The Galt House Hotel is a name long associated with gracious hospitality and Southern style. In the early 1800s, the original Galt House was a residence owned by Dr. W.C. Galt. In 1835, a 60-room hotel was opened as the Galt House and was located across the street from the residence at the northeast corner of First and Main. Some notable visitors include Stephen Douglas, Edwin Booth, Charles Dickens, P.T. Barnum, Tom Thumb, and presidents Lincoln, Grant, Taylor, Hayes and Buchanan. In 1864, generals Grant and Sherman planned their military strategies at the Galt House. This strategy led to the capture of Atlanta. In 1865, the hotel was destroyed by fire, but within weeks, noted architect R. Whitestone began plans and construction a block away from the original site, at First and Main. The project cost $1.5 million, an extraordinary sum considering the country was still recovering from the Civil War. The new Galt, which opened in 1869, featured eight steel beams weighing 118,000 pounds that supported its second floor Grand Ballroom. The guest list of the new Galt featured such notables as Sarah Bernhardt, the Grand Duke Alexis of Russia, President Theodore Roosevelt, Diamond Jim Brady, President Chester A. Arthur, Lillian Russell, President Millard Fillmore and President William Howard Taft.

Hey, this time the destination is San Francisco. Is almost impossible not to love this city, one of the most modern and well developed. There, sustainability is considered a serious issue before the subject became fashionable. And organic food, recycling, bicycles and vintage shopping are more than trends – are almost laws.
It was in San Francisco that emerged, or gained prominence, some of the most important movements of the counterculture, like hippies, the beatnik (from the underground writers Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg) and the demonstrations for civil rights of blacks and gays.
At least one time you must see the turistic points: Golden Gate, Lombard Street, Exploratorium, and the region of Fisherman’s Wharf.
I took the rest of the tips from a magazine called gloss. They talked about the Mission District, neighborhood loved by the hipsters. The Valencia Street is full of stores and wonderful thrifts, bars, alternative galleries. The Dolores Park is perfect for a picnic.
A classic trip is to walk through Haight Street. You can start by the Golden Gate Park, pass through the Haight Ashbury… On the contrary, Castro is a gay neighborhood. It was there that Harvey Milk started the demonstrations for civil rights of gays, during the 70’s. At the Filmore Street, you can see more sophisticated trading, there are brands like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Jonathan Adler. Even if you are not interested on shopping, just taking a look is worth. The street is full of charming cafes.
Near Filmore you can find Little Tokyo, there are wonderful asian restaurants and the New People (http://www.newpeopleworld.com/). North Beach is the italian neighbourhood, the library City Lights (http://www.citylights.com/) stays there and you can’t missed it. To end this spin around the World, there is Chinatown.
Hmmm, these days I’ve been longboarding a lot. My friend lend me his long, and I thought of searching about it history. Longboarding is an offshoot of street skating, but, like all board sports, its roots lie in surfing. Developed as a single sport on the west coast in the 1950s, longboarding and street skateboarding became popular with the help of Jacob Gallegly from Gresham, OR. He was a true natural when it came to the downhill scene touching the hearts of millions the sport will never be the same; by the 1990s, Longboards and Skateboards branched off into their respective disciplines. With the right setup, a longboard can give the feeling of surfing on hard smooth surfaces. There are a variety of riding styles: downhill, cruising and carving, slalom, dancing, freeriding, vert and sliding.
Gresham is a city located in Multnomah County, Oregon, United States immediately east of Portland. It was named for the American Civil War general, and Postmaster General, Walter Quinton Gresham. The population was 105,594 at the 2010 census. This makes Gresham the fourth largest city in Oregon.

Miami is a tourist center, one of the most visited cities by tourists in the United States because of its warm climate all year round, and beaches. The city is one of the most frequented by snow birds (the term used to describe the inhabitants of the northern United States of America, which spend the winter in the southern states, particularly Florida, to escape the snow and cold).Tourism has become an important source of income for Miami from the 1920s, and is currently the main source of income for the city.
They are commonly spoken in the city in addition to English, Spanish, due to the number of Hispanic-American (Cuban, Puerto Rican, Mexican and other Central American countries) living in Miami. The region also has a large Jewish colony.
On the outskirts of town is the Miami International Airport, which is the second busiest airport in the state, behind only Orlando International Airport. This airport is in modern times in reforms, which will enable the operation of large jets like the A380, Airbus and other big planes.
Many immigrants are in Miami, or at least his travels landed immigrants in Miami, because of its proximity to Central America, and also the city situated on the coast, thus facilitating access to the United States of America through the coast.
