Marrakesh

While my friends don’t send me news, I chose to write about Marrakesh. It was decided after looking a suggestion of blog from here. Marrakesh is a city in Morocco, near to the Atlas Mountains. With a population of 1 036 500 people (2006), the place is the capital of Marrakesh-Tensift-El Haouz. “The red city” has the biggest suq (tradicional market) of the country, furthermore, one of the busiest square of Africa, the Djemaa el Fna, which has acrobats, sellers of water, dancers, musicians and food stalls.
Similar to north-african cities or even from the Middle East, “The Pearl of the South” has a walled city (Almedina or Medina) and a modern one called Gueliz. It is served by the Menara Airport (RAK) and by a rail link with Casablanca and the north of the country. In the picture you can see the Mosque Kutubia, the biggest mosque of Marrakesh.
